Care and Education for Destitute Children in South India

Goodwill Children's Homes currently run three children’s homes: Thandigudi, Pattiveeranpatti and Dindigul, with plans to relocate the two older children’s homes to a new site at Sanarpatti.

Thandigudi

Thandigudi is high up in the Palani Hills where the climate is relatively cool. It is home for 175 younger children from the surrounding tribal village areas. They live in boarding houses of 20 to 30 children with a house parent. It has its own nursery and primary school, and also holds two trade training courses for teenagers. These are in needlework and electronics with a nationally recognised certificate.

Pattiveeranpatti and Dindigul

These homes are situated on the plains. Pattiveeranpatti is home for 100 girls, Dindigul home for 50 boys. All the children attend local secondary schools.

Sanarpatti

Goodwill Children's Homes has recently purchased new land at nearby Sanarpatti, with plans to relocate the children from Pattiveeranpatti and Dindigul. Small modern units will be built to house up to 20 children each. The site will be more convenient for the local schools, and will have space for the children to play. The land is very fertile and has 3 wells, so it will also be farmed to provide fresh fruit and vegetables to supplement the children’s diet.
