Most of the children in Goodwill Homes come from the tribal communities living in the mountain regions of the lower and upper Palani Hills. There are also a number of children coming from the adjoining districts of Dindigul, Madurai, Theni and Virudhunagar. Most of the children from the tribal communities come from villages within a radius of 60 kilometers and the remaining children from areas within a radius of about 100 kilometers from the plains.
Many children are orphaned, abandoned, or come from extremely poor and tribal backgrounds, where access to education, safety, and emotional care is limited. The program collaborates closely with local communities, schools, volunteers, and organisations to create a dedicated support system for each child. They are educated and guided to grow with self-confidence, self-esteem, and essential life skills, enabling them to become responsible, independent individuals.
Being a sponsor involves more than donating, you empower these children with the fundamental building blocks through which they can improve their own lives and those of their families and the communities in which they live. You get to build a personal relationship with the child you support. Sponsors receive three letters a year from India (for the younger children who cannot yet write in English this will include a translation), an annual report that includes a recent photograph and two newsletters from the UK office.

By sponsoring a child, you can give them a future of opportunity for as little as £25 a month. India is home to some of the world’s poorest people, with many millions living on less than 40p a day. Be assured that whatever you give will go a long way - even a few pounds is enough to provide them with 3 meals a day, clothes, a school uniform, shoes and other basic necessities.
